Help with Vupl.

Get help with the app, report a problem or share beta feedback directly with the Vupl publisher, Amitoj Singh Lotey.

Someone shared a library with you?

Start with your own Plex account and Vupl on the device where you want to watch.

  1. Sign in with your own Plex account. Use the account that received the invitation. If you need an account, Plex lets you create one from its invitation email.
  2. Open your library invitation. Choose “Someone shared a library with me” if your version offers it. You can also find invitations in Account → People & sharing → Library invitations.
  3. Choose Accept & open. Check the sender and libraries first. Once the library has loaded, choose Browse library if shown, then pick a movie or show and press Play.
I can’t find my invitation

Check which Plex account is shown in Account, then check invitations again. If it is a different account, sign out and use the account that was invited. Otherwise, ask the sender to check the Plex username they invited and which libraries they selected.

A friend request is separate from library access. You can watch a shared library without accepting a friend request.

I accepted, but the library won’t open

Choose Try again or Check again. Your accepted invitation does not need to be sent again just because the connection failed.

If it still will not open, ask the person who shared it to check that their server is running and accessible away from their home. You do not need to change their router or server settings yourself.

I’m setting up a television

Open Vupl on the television, choose sign-in and scan its QR code with your phone. Sign in to your own Plex account, then return to Vupl on the television. Keep its sign-in screen open while you finish.

I’m the person sharing my library

Before you invite someone, check these in Plex:

  • Their own Plex username or email is correct, and the intended movie or series libraries are selected.
  • Your server is running and Remote Access works if they are watching from another home.
  • The library invitation is accepted; a friend request alone does not grant access.

Send them Plex’s invitation and a supported way to install Vupl. Never send your account password. Plex Home profiles are for people living together; a recipient’s new household profile does not automatically inherit their shared access.

An accepted invitation confirms permission. The library must still load successfully; only actual playback verifies watching on their device.

Plex manages accounts, sharing and applicable remote-playback requirements. See Plex’s invitation guide and remote-playback requirements.

Install Vupl

Use the download or testing invitation provided by Vupl for your device. A Plex library invitation grants library access; it does not install Vupl.

iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV

Use your existing Vupl testing invitation if you have one. Public download links will appear on the release page when available. A Plex invitation does not enroll you in Apple’s TestFlight.

Android phone, tablet or TV

Android currently uses invited test builds. Ask the Vupl publisher for the correct build and update instructions for your device. The phone/tablet build and television build are different; there is no public Google Play installation or automatic store update offered here.

Report a problem

A short description and a few details help make a report useful:

  • Your device model and operating-system version.
  • The Vupl version and build number, if available.
  • What you were doing, what you expected and what happened instead.
  • Whether the issue happens every time, and the steps that reproduce it.
  • The exact error message or a screenshot with private information removed.

For a TestFlight build, you can also use Apple's beta feedback tools. Please do not send Plex passwords, authorization tokens, sign-in codes or private server addresses. Crop or hide account names, library details and other people's information before attaching screenshots.

Plex connection & library access

Vupl connects to the movie and television libraries your Plex account can access. It does not include a catalog or grant access to someone else's server.

  • Confirm that your server is online and that the same Plex account can open the library in Plex.
  • Check the selected server and Plex Home profile in Vupl's account and connection settings.
  • For a shared library, ask its owner to confirm your access. Plex permissions and any applicable Plex playback requirements still apply.

Contact Vupl for problems with the app's connection flow. Plex account recovery, server permissions and Plex subscriptions are managed by Plex or the server owner; Plex Support covers those services.

Playback & subtitles

Video keeps stopping to load

In versions that offer it, choose “Use automatic quality” in Playback settings. It sets your preferred away-from-home starting quality to 1080p / 8 Mbps and adjusts when supported. Your home quality, mobile-data limit and language choices stay saved; automatic adjustment also applies to converted video at home.

If playback still cannot start, ask the library owner to check the server and remote connection. Changing quality cannot fix missing access or an unavailable server.

For a playback issue, include whether it happens on your home network or a remote connection, the chosen quality, and the video, audio or subtitle format shown in the app's media details. Share only the details relevant to the problem.

Playback can depend on your server, connection, media format, device and output equipment. A source's HDR or surround label does not guarantee that every device and output combination will reproduce it.

For subtitle problems, mention the subtitle format, whether the track came from Plex or an imported file, and whether the issue affects appearance, position, timing or availability. Do not send copyrighted video or a full subtitle file with an initial report.

Beta availability

Vupl is free. The iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac apps are being prepared for public release. Free download links will appear when the apps are available. Android apps remain in development.

If you already have an invited build, use the contact above for feedback. This page does not enroll you in a beta or confirm a TestFlight invitation. Release information will appear on the Vupl website when it is available.

Privacy & data questions

The Vupl privacy policy explains Plex authorization, device storage, lists, Watch Together, website hosting and support correspondence. Email the publisher for questions or requests about information you have sent to Vupl.

Vupl sign-out does not delete your Plex account, cloud lists or watched history. Plex-held information is managed through Plex.
